Three Common Mistakes People Make When Trying To Lose Weight
There are three common mistakes people make when trying to lose weight, and it is amazing how much these mistakes can impact on your ability to succeed. They are such simple things, and so many people make these mistakes, but they can be easily avoided.
Many people believe that to lose weight you need to eat less and exercise more and to some point this is true, however it is true only to a point.
Check out the three common mistakes people make when trying to lose weight below and your eyes will be opened to what you may have been doing to sabotage your ability to finally get the body you want:
Common Mistake Number 1
Skipping meals – Don’t skip meals, and never, EVER skip breakfast!! Many people believe that skipping meals will help them lose weight. WRONG! This is by far the worst thing you can do! Skipping meals lowers your metabolism. What this means is that the next time you finally eat again, your body wants to store it (as fat!) just in case it is starved again! If you want to lose weight, then starving yourself isn’t the answer. In fact, eating around 5 to 6 smaller meals each day is much better.
Common Mistake Number 2
Spending countless hours on a treadmill – You no longer have to spend countless hours on the treadmill to lose weight, going at the same, boring old pace – Yep, you heard it right! Research tells us that to boost your metabolism and keep it elevated for longer (this burns fat!), you should do your cardio workout at variable intensity. For example, after warming up, you will work out at high intensity for a minute or so, then work at moderate intensity for another minute or so, alternating five to six times. Believe it or not, even though this takes a lot less time, it is much more effective at burning fat, which is exactly what you want!
Common Mistake Number 3
Lots of abdominal exercises – You don’t have to waste your time on countless ab exercises anymore either! The reason for this is because many people already have developed a good set of abdominal muscles – the problem is, they have a layer of fat hiding them! So what you need to do is get rid of that fat through a proper diet and exercise (including cardio) and not by concentrating on ab exercises every time you go to the gym. Instead you should consider working your core as a whole on a regular basis and this will help with stability of your torso and reduce the risk of back problems.
By avoiding the three common mistakes people make when trying to lose weight, you will greatly increase your chances of losing weight and achieving the look you want for your body – and you won’t have to starve or spend hours at the gym either!
